Dr. Martens x Agyness Deyn (1490 'Aggy' Boots)

Once again I have ordered/purchased a new pair of shoes!

This time, from the Doc Martens x Agyness Deyn collection - the Aggy 1490 boots in Black!

(they come in both black and cherry red)

Hiya folks!

I have been pondering about these boots since I heard about the release of them back in August. One of my all-time favorite YouTubers and bloggers, Lexi (aka sototallyvlog on YouTube and FashionFilth.com), just recently picked them up and I was literally DROOLING over them. She styles them so well! I did some  research online to read more or even see if there was a review or something online... but no. There is nothing. I did, however, come across a site that said Miley Cyrus wore these (GAH! my style mother!) and I became obsessed. More obsessed than before. I then made up my mind to buy them, RAN (to my computer) to the Dr. Martens store (their website) and quickly looked them up to see if they were still available. Thus, they were not - and I was extremely disappointed. So, my journey to find them continues...

at 2.00 a.m., I began frantically googling for them, and found a link to an ebay auction which ended in 8 hours. It was definitely a match made in heaven, considering they were just my size - US 6 (UK 4). I set my alarm for later in the morning around 9.30 a.m., went to bed. I then woke up to my beautiful alarm which plays 'Hey There Delilah' by The Plain White T's. I waiting, staring at the computer screen for over an hour, when finally... I needed to use the restroom! URG! ...when I got out of the restroom, it had a mere 10 minutes left of bidding. My heart was racing with panic. The starting bid was $94.99 with 1 bid. I knew the bidder was watching (I mean, who wouldn't watch on a pair like these?!) so I waited until the last 30 seconds and I placed an auto bid of 200 whopping dollars. within the last 10 seconds, they bid it up to just around $127.50 - but were unsuccessful at winning these shoes (which were obviously made for me! *devious laugh*).

I just got them in the mail today and will be doing an unboxing/review video on my YouTube channel. Stay tuned!

xoxo

Summer Lead

Subtly beautiful pencils from One Fine Dae. Each pencil notes (bad pun) a summer event that must be had (though I wish I knew where I could find a drive-in theater).

Black Milk Clothing Pearl Galaxy Leggings

Today I woke up, had coffee and biscuits, went to get the mail... and I find this in my mailbox.

If you can't already tell, it's a package from BLACK MILK CLOTHING!!! Yipppee! My leggings finally came <3

I decided to order the Pearl Galaxy leggings, seeing as they were limited edition, and I felt like they would be easy to pull off. I was trying to decide between these and the Purple Galaxy leggings, but ended up going with the Pearl's because I could always buy the Purple ones.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the overall experience with Black Milk Clothing. The 'Mega Hotties' are super nice and friendly, and were happy to reply to all of my questions about shipment of these bad boys. The quality of these leggings did not disappoint me one bit. The texture of these leggings is also amazing, but I can't put the feel of them into words. You'll just have to order a pair for yourself to see what I mean!!

They have a super awesome label on the inside of the leggings, so that you don't feel an uncomfortable tag on the back! Super nice. I hope that Black Milk opens up a shop here in L.A. - it's much needed!! But in a way, I'm glad they haven't moved to the USA yet, because once they do... Let's just say I'll go bankrupt.

I will definitely be posting a 'How I Style' vid on my YouTube channel for these puppies.

New Glasses: yay or nay? (Tura '80s vibe vs. Ray-Ban Clubmaster)

As some of you may already know, I have been using up a lot of my time quite recently trying to find a pair of glasses.

Q: Why do you need glasses all of a sudden?

A: Because I went to get my eyes checked and I have -0.25 (or +0.25) in my right eye.

So I am trying to decide if I want to get these, or the Ray-Ban Clubmaster in Tortoise w/ gold. I love both equally, (and not to mention they are two completely different looks!) but I can't just drop at least $500 on two pairs together. But let's not think about the price for a moment.

So I need help deciding on which pair. I LOVE the way both look on me, though I feel much cuter in the Tura glasses...

Have I just made up my mind?

Please let me know your opinion!

xox,
Kayla

Odds & Ends: 5 Flower Arranging Tips

There are some talents that every lady should have in her bag of tricks. Flower arranging might not seem like the most necessary skill of the bunch, but it’s a wonderful craft to master. Why? Because you’ll be able to create Pinterest-worthy bouquets for any occasion without spending a pretty penny of pre-made arrangements. (And who doesn’t love fresh flowers to brighten up their home? And save money?)

A well-arranged bouquet is a lot like a well-styled outfit: Smart layers, contrast, and personal touches. I put together five flower-arranging tips to help you master the art of arrangements.

1. Think Outside the Vase

flowers
Who says your gorgeous arrangement should be limited to a vase? Get creative and try placing your flowers in a mason jar, ceramic bowl or even a teacup!

2. Stabilize

flowers
To make your life easier, place clear cellophane tape in a grid, across the top of your bowl, vase or jar. This is especially important if you’re working with a wide-mouthed bowl or vase because the flowers will have a tendency to fall over otherwise.

3. Snip Your Stems

flowers
To keep your flowers healthy, snip the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle before placing it in your vase. This step allows the flowers to absorb the most water possible. And, if you really want to make your arrangement last, cut the stems every few days.

4. Play with Texture

flowers
Uniform arrangements of one type of flower make a lovely and bold statement, but if you’re mixing multiple types, bring in a variety of textures to give it more dimension and interest. Try bunching dense flowers with pops of airier sprigs sprinkled throughout, like the arrangement above.

5. Consider Placement

flowers

To help your gorgeous arrangement last longer, keep it off televisions, appliances or heating or cooling units, which give off heat and wilt flowers. The ideal spot for your arrangement is somewhere out of direct sunlight and away from hot or cold drafts.

When in doubt think simple and classic and just have fun with it!

Toni May Boho Jewelry

Toni May has the boho rock, wood, and leather jewelry thing all wound up. And feathers! Rock, wood, leather and feathers. Great combo. Fittingly the creations (by Sydney lady Laura Byrne) are called things like 'Flame' cuff, 'Fire on the Ocean' bracelet and 'Fly With Me' cuff. I might just do that.

Baggu leftover-leather keychains

The ladies of Brooklyn-based accessories brand Baggu are sustainable-style superheroes. Not only have they made the once-dowdy reusable grocery tote lighter, better, thinner, and stronger; they've single-handedly made it cool enough to be your regular bag, with spot-on pop colors, luxe leathers, and print collaborations with designers like Mociun. Now, they're stepping up their commitment to waste reduction with the launch of two leather keychains—a wedge-shaped coin purse and a wrist loop for those can't-find-my-keys moments—made from small cuttings, left over from making their leather bags and pouches that would otherwise go to waste. The hides are tanned in upstate New York, and the keychains are made in the US. They'll be sold online starting May 1, in a range of fun shades like lemon yellow, grapefruit, and mint.
